Jo has a four year BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture from the highly respected College of Chinese Integrated Medicine which is affiliated to Kingston University. With a background in education, Jo's initial interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine was sparked after she sought treatment for insomnia, wanting a natural approach to its management instead of a chemical one. Through clinical practice, Jo has seen at first hand, the benefits acupuncture can bring to patients both as a single therapy and alongside Western medicine.
Jo's integrated training allows her to address the patient's presenting symptoms, while also using 5 Element theory to treat them on a deeper, constitutional level by working to restore their energetic balance. Lifestyle and dietary advice may also be offered, if appropriate, for the needs of particular patients.
Jo is a fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council and is bound by their code of professional standards regarding confidentiality, data protection and health and safety. Jo is committed to continuing professional development in specialist areas of Chinese Medicine to enhance her existing knowledge and practical skills. Jo's post graduate training includes the treatment of infertility, PCOS and endometriosis, coping with allergies and auto-immune diseases, musculo-skeletal conditions and supporting patients with cancer.
Jo is an Associated Practitioner with the charity Arthritis Action and was a regular volunteer at the Fountain Centre in the Royal Surrey Hospital providing acupuncture for cancer patients and their carers.
